  Nexus Song Suggestions
Posted by: Sequacious - 04-28-2017, 09:00 AM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (7)

As most of you now know we've added Noteblock Music to Nexus. Thankfully most of you appear to be enjoying it and we'd like to give you the opportunity to get your own songs added to Matecraft.

All you have to do is reply to this thread in the following format:

Song Name: (This will show in the selection GUI and chat when it plays)
Link to Song: (Try to make this an actual download link or YouTube video with a download in the description. The song MUST be a MIDI file, no others will work.)

If I can and if the song sounds good in Noteblock format, I'll try and get it added to Nexus the same or following day and you will be notified when that happens. I look forward to seeing your suggestions, try not to make 'em ones that already are on the server Wink

  Matecraft Presents Equinox
Posted by: Sequacious - 04-03-2017, 10:11 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

As many of you have noticed, Matecraft has started hosting it's own modpack on CurseForge called Equinox.

This pack [if all goes according to plan] will hopefully replace FTB in the Matecraft roster of servers. Don't worry, all the DW20 mods will still be there, this just simply gives us more control over the entire pack.

This is where you guys come in, the most recent build of the pack [1.4.0] has just been pushed and is ready for testing. What we need you to do, is download the pack [it's only available in the Curse/Twitch launcher for now] and test it in Single Player. Then report back any bugs, simple!
Bugs can be reported in the FTB section of the forums, just be sure to mark them with 'Equinox' in the thread subject.

The more testing gets done, the sooner Equinox can be open for everyone! Thanks and happy testing!

As a side note;
We recommend at least 4GB of ram for the pack, and you will notice your CPU usage will be high. This is a Single Player issue and will not be present on the server.

Welcome to the new Survival World Map!
The map can be found here
[Image: 6Hw06XH.png]
The world map will show players where they can build, and give a overview for players that might want to expand their base.
The map will be generating over the next couple of days, so if you don't see your build yet please give it some time.
Some of the features that will be added to the map include the following:

  • View Players in real time
  • Check if a location has a region around it.
  • View builds from above
  • And a lot more!

The end of the Helper system
Posted by: MagmaGuy - 02-15-2017, 12:55 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (1)

Hello everyone,

Today we will be terminating the Helper system. The helper system aimed to allow players to try-out for staff without any intervention from staff itself - anyone could become a helper, provided they fulfilled the prerequisites. After a long period of testing this system, we have decided to end it for two simple reasons: it was never implemented properly, and it is far too high maintenance to maintain it. The plan, originally, was to constantly fire helpers that failed to actively help other players in-game, and keep a fairly small roster of people who did manage to keep the rank. The reality of it is that hardly anyone has been booted from the system since its inception because it is too hard to keep track of all the people in the helper system taking into account the different time zones, holidays and coordinating with the rest of staff to check who had been helping out (also it's not that fun to remove ranks from people).

This system, which was meant to ease promoting people into an expert rank, ended up making it even harder to find suitable experts in all the noise. We were then faced with two possibilities: either increase the difficulty of getting the helper rank even more, which undermined the underlying objective of allowing anyone to try out for staff, or go back to our old system.

Which brings us to now. Starting today, we are reverting to our old way of picking staff: looking at what players do every day, selecting the few that actively help other people with server-related questions (among other things) and then holding internal votes to decide who becomes staff. We will start by picking a few of the helpers currently in the roster to become experts; the remaining will go back to their member+ ranks.

This is not all bad news if you have lost your helper rank. Since we are no longer allowing players to get the helper rank, we will be giving some basic inspection tools to players in the member+ rank, chief among them being the ability to inspect block placement in the survival and creative servers (you'll be able to tell who placed and removed blocks). This tool, among some others, will allow you to stand out as someone interested in the moderation of the server by reporting griefs and other technical issues with the servers.

That is all for now. Feel free to speak your mind about this change in the comments below.
